Imagine....

Our students create some wonderful pieces of art both in and out of class. Sharing work within this blog will allow family and friends both near and far to appreciate the hard work that takes place in art class. This is also a great spot for students to check in to make sure they know what the next sketchbook assignment is and to share ideas on their current assignments.

Drawing things that are Round...Sketchbook Assignment

This week you need to break your page into six sections. Within each section you need to draw something that is round. Please do your personal best when it comes to drawing and use colour.

Sketchbook assignments must be done neatly. Please do not wait until the last minute to do your work.

Check out my first attempt at an Educreation lesson..... it explains the assignment in a new and different way...

Travelling through the Colour Wheel...some assembly required (wheels not included)

Major Assignment Number Two for grades 10-12 requires students to show understanding of the colour wheel without simply drawing the colour wheel... This is one time that re-inventing the wheel is a good thing!

Here is a great way to show understanding of the colour wheel using clay and some video-work....

Still no wheel ..... the performers in the video below do use movement and song to demonstrate the colour wheel...

Okay....yes, a wheel....however, if you want to show understanding of the colour wheel by building this fantastic lego zoetrope then go for it...

So....what will you do to show understanding....creativity, imagination.....you can create....you are artists....

FROG...Sketchbook assignment for October 22

We just finished a week devoted to understanding more about Fully Relying on God...aka  FROG
Here are some steps showing how you can draw the actual creatures He has given us on earth.

You will draw a scene in which each of the images on this page are included:
Dragon-fly   Water-lily   Frog 1    Frog 2   Lily pad   Tadpoles

You may choose to use shading (think of where the light is coming from) or in colour...

I Wish I had a Machine to...Sketchbook for October 15th

"Machine Impossible"

Think About:
What do you wish you had a machine to do for you? Make your bed? Fix your lunch? Fetch your soda?

DESIGN YOUR OWN MACHINE - Draw it in your sketchbook.

You must Include:
Some kind of  power supply: Solar? Electric? Hamster? Hydro? Air?
Detail of the various parts of the machine....does it have gears/wheels/pulleys?
How it works....show the action of the machine with arrows and words (if necessary)

When drawing this amazing machine, be sure fill the entire page (remember to draw a border), and make great use of colour...

I want to invent a machine to dry my hair then curl or straighten without any human assistance (no more holding the hair dryer!)

Colour...Sesame Street Style

I know...you are too old for the children's show I grew up on....however...Grover and his friends know a lot and are happy to share it with people (and other muppets) of all ages.

This silly yet fun video shows us the primary colours in action. On Sesame Street live brightly coloured muppets. Blue Cookie Monster, Red Elmo and  Yellow Big Bird are three fun characters who make up the primary colours....mix up the primary colours and we meet Green, Oscar the Grouch, Orange, Ernie and Purple, The Count..."Aha Ha Ha"...   Enjoy!   http://youtu.be/yu44JRTIxSQ
